I think we need to review the way we see the Word of God. I need to review how I see the Word. This is no ordinary book.
Hebrews 1:1,2 says:
In many seperate revelations [each of which set forth a portion of the Truth] and in different ways God spoke of old to [our] forefathers in and by the prophets,
[But] in the last of these days He has spoken to us in [the person of a] Son, Whom He appointed Heir and lawful Owner of all things, also by and through Whom He created the worlds and the reaches of space and the ages of time [He made, produced, built, operated, and arranged them in order]. (Amplified)
In these last days God has chosen to speak to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. His Word is so powerful but do we as christians get all we are supposed to get from it?
Hebrews 4:12 gives us a very vivid picture of how powerful God’s Word is:
For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart. (Amplified)
Is that what happens when we read the Word? Do we desire the Word to expose our deepest thoughts or to sift and analyze the purposes of our hearts?
What is our mindset like when we read the Word? Do we just read for the sake of reading or do we expect God to speak to us? The Word judges the thoughts and purposes of the heart. So my other question would be, does all this happen when you read the Word?
We need to review how we read the Word. I have been challenged to change the way I see the Word. I have known this scripture and even quoted it but as I was reading it again I felt God challenge me about His Word.
God wants His Word to change us. He wants to speak to us. He wants us to experience the power of His Word because it is powerful. The first part of Hebrews 4:12 says,
For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective];
His Word is alive and full power. It is active, operative, energizing and effective. Are you being energized as you read the Word? Is it being effective in your life?
