Silence The Negative Voices At All Costs

“But they laughed at him.

After he put them all out, he took the child’s father and mother and the disciples who were

with him, and went in where the child was.”

Mark 5:14

Negativity is all around us. That’s a given.

But we don’t need to live it out in our lives. The enemy is trying to use it to bring us

down but we must not let him succeed. We need to fight against the negativity

that comes our way, the voices that say we are ugly and the voices that say we will

never amount to anything, that nobody will love us and so many more words that

we are told.

In the scripture above we see that Jesus had to do the same thing. He had arrived

at Jairus house to heal his daughter but the people in the room laughed and made

fun of him.

And what did Jesus do?

He chased them out of the room. He didn’t give negativity a chance.

We can’t give negativity a chance.

What is your environment like?

What are you watching, listening to and reading on a daily basis?

What king of thoughts do you have of yourself and your situation? Are they

positive or negative?

What kind of words do you speak everyday?

All these things need to be looked at if you want to change your environment, if you want to

change the negativity that comes your way.

Encourage yourself with the word of God.

Surround yourself with the right friends.

Change what you read and listen to, replace negative words with positive ones.

But do something. Don’t just let negativity infiltrate your life without fighting it.

Take the necessary steps to change your environment.

God has amazing things in store for you and He is with you every moment of your life.

Bless you friends

Faith Has A Voice!

“We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written,

I believed, and therefore have I spoken:

We also believe, and therefore we speak.”

2 Corinthians 4:13

What are you speaking today?

Are you speaking about everything that’s wrong in the world and all that’s not going

right for you or are you speaking out the faith, God has put in your heart because that’s

what you should be doing.

In the scripture above, Paul is talking about speaking what he believes, speaking what he

is trusting God to do for him and that is very important for us to.

There is power in our words so we should be very careful of the words that come out

of our mouths. Now, I am not saying we ignore all the bad things happening around us

and act like they don’t exist. What I am saying is that in the midst of the hardships, trials,

and challenges and when things don’t seem to be going our way, we should be speaking

out what we are trusting God to do for us.

Whether its healing, financial breakthrough,

whatever it is, we need to speak out our faith because faith has a voice so don’t remain silent!

Bless you friends

Have a great Easter/Passover weekend!

“Welcome back to reality”?!

“Welcome back to reality” was what a friend said to me a day after returning back from Kenya.

I had gone to Kenya for about two weeks and it was hard going to a place that is improving and growing

while things at home are stagnant.

Kenya is growing rapidly and stuff works which is the total opposite in my country.

Anyway, the day after my return one of my friends said “welcome back to reality”

I was really bothered by that statement. When he saw my resistance he said it again. I rejected his

statement completely.

I didn’t want to make the circumstances in my country my reality.

Before I went to Kenya had I made them a reality? Maybe I did but I wanted that to change.

What’s your reality? Is it in line with what God promised you or is it something entirely different?

We are constantly being pushed to take on a reality that is not what God has for us. We have settled

for a reality that is way below the level God would have us live at.

Think about the man who was crippled for 38 years (John 5:1-17). What was his reality? Did he ever see himself

healed in his reality?

Was hopelessness his reality?

We need to take a deeper look at the reality we live by. Who gave us the reality we are currently living by?

It’s so easy to adopt a way of thinking, a way of speaking, a way of living.

The good news is this, the reality we are living by can change.

That’s what happened to the man who was crippled. For 38 years he was living in a reality that

was not God’s reality. God wanted him healed and living a full life.

The enemy on the other hand wanted him bound. he wanted him living in hopelessness.

But Jesus came and changed his reality.

We have hope friends.

You don’t have to accept the reality you are living by today.

The limitations people have put on you don’t have to be your reality.

The circumstances you live in don’t have to be your reality.

God can and wants you to live by His truth. His truth is liberating. His truth is full of life,

joy, peace and so much more goodness.

What is your reality? Let God determine what your reality is.

There is so much He has in store for you.

Bless you,friends.

He promised it!

“The Lord made a promise to David.

It was a sure promise that He will not take back.

He promised, “I will make one of your descendants rule as king after you.”

Psalm 132:11

Happy new year to you, friends! I hope you had a great holiday and are ready to continue walking

with God in this new year. God has done so much already and in this new year, He will

continue the work He started all those years ago. He has so much more in store for you.

It’s good to be back writing and I am expectant about what God has in store this year.

God’s promises to us are sure. He doesn’t take back what He has promised. He doesn’t change

His mind. When He promises, it comes to pass. When God promised David he would have

a son to rule when he died God is the one who brought it to pass in spite of David’s failings and weaknesses.

(remember the mess with Bathsheba)

If we are relying on our own abilities and strength to receive God’s promises then we have missed it.

He wants us to look to Him, to rely on Him. He is faithful to fulfill the things He promised us.

So as we go through the new year let’s remember His promises to us are sure.

There is no “maybe” or “might” attached to His promises. They are sure and that’s enough for us.

Enjoy your weekend friends.

Be deliberate about what you think on daily.

What are you thinking about every day? Have you thought about what you think about lately?

I had to train myself with my thoughts. It’s crazy how easy it is to let your mind wander

to thoughts of defeat and hopelessness.

Just last week I was wrestling with thoughts of inadequacy. Someone said something to me and I

had to catch myself in the moment. I was not about to accept the words that were spoken to me.

I was not about to let that word take root in me.

You need to know the enemy is not taking a back seat when it comes to

your thoughts. He is trying to get you to think a certain way, in a way that is destructive. He is not waiting

for you to think negatively. He is being proactive in affecting the way you think.

So must we take a back seat then when it comes to our thoughts? No!

We need to be vigilant and proactive.

There are so many opportunities to think negatively these days. We need to be vigilant when it comes

to guarding our minds. Let’s look at what the word says,

“For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly,

whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and

gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh

and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].

Philippians 4:8

Let’s take this word to heart. This is our offensive attack against what the enemy is trying to do.

If we are going to protect ourselves against the world’s infiltration we need to be proactive about what we

think about. Like I said before, there is so much opportunity to think negatively about our lives and

everything going on around us. Let’s be deliberate about our thoughts. Have a plan!

ACT ON IT: Right down ten things (using the Philippians 4 model) that you can think about on a daily basis.

What do you think about when you think about your life?

Write down three things you feel YAH has spoken to you about concerning your life.

Bless you friends

Expect Him to move in your life today……..Part 2

I wasn’t planning to do this but after I wrote the first part I realized

I had to go deeper. I want to break this topic down and talk about

the process, how do we

“Expect YAH to move in our lives today?”

I am going to introduce three things that could help you.

  1. Bring your past to Him

You may have had a difficult past but you can let go. You don’t

have to let it dictate what your future will be like.

Bring your past to the Lord. He doesn’t want you holding on to

it any longer. Your future is brighter and full of hope.

I used to hold on to the past so tight that it became a part of me.

I used to wear it like a badge everywhere I went. And even though

what happened to me was serious, YAH wanted me to release it

to Him so He could show me a future He had planned for me.

Friends, don’t let your past ruin what YAH has for you now…

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old.

Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not

perceive it.”

Isaiah 43:18

2. Change the words you are speaking

“And behold, a woman who had suffered from a flow of blood for

twelve years came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His

garment;

for she kept saying to herself, if I only touch His garment,  I shall

be restored to health. ”

Matthew 9:20, 21

The woman kept speaking what she was believing for. There is

power in the words we speak. What comes out of your mouth

has an impact on your life. Speak life, speak what you believing

for and don’t fall into the trap of speaking negatively.

“A good man eats good from the fruit of his mouth, but the desire of

the treacherous is for violence.

He who guards his mouth keeps his life, but he who opens wide

his lips comes to ruin.”

Proverbs 13:2, 3

3. Spend more time with YAH

I put this as the last thing because I find it so hard. I am constantly

fighting distractions left, right and center. And the crazy thing is, I

created most of the distractions!! That’s so messed up!

We need to spend more time in His word, more time speaking to

Him and listening to Him.

I will leave you with those three things to ponder on.

I hope those points will help you on your journey.

The Lord wants to move in your life for sure. Be expectant.

Bless you friends…..

Thinking about the next generation…….

It’s been an amazing weekend indeed.

If you didn’t know, I work at my church’s children’s ministry. It’s such an honor

working there.

This weekend was amazing because we had a grade seven graduation. Grade seven’s

are twelve year old’s and every year we release them from children’s ministry with a

dinner and graduation. The dinner happens on a Friday night and the actual graduation

happens on Sunday in the main service. It was really emotional because as leaders we

have been with the children from the time they were six. So seeing them become

men and women of God before our very eyes is something so amazing that cannot be put into words.

My desire for them is that they grow deeper into YAH and not stray from the

path they are on.

But that got me thinking about the next generation. We need to do all that we can to teach them

the way of the Lord!

You may not be serving in a children’s ministry like I do but I want to challenge you,

Is there something you can do?

I encourage you to read Deuteronomy 6:6.

I know it addresses the parents but we can get involved!

David writes in the book of Psalms,

“So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim Your might

to another generation, your power to all those to come. “

Psalm 71:18

There is a generation that is coming that needs to know there is a God who

loves them and has a plan for their lives.

There is a generation that needs to know there is a God who will never forsake them.

There is so much they need to know about YAH and His ways……

The enemy doesn’t want the next generation to grow up knowing YAH.

He wants to take them out. But we can’t let him!

When YAH sees you, He doesn’t just see you, He sees the generations in you.

Look at Abraham.

YAH had a plan for his life and that plan included the generations in him!

So I will ask the question again,

Is there a way you can touch the next generation?

Bless you friends

Where does your validation come from??

i-am-of-worth

As humans we crave applause, attention and acceptance.  We

want to be validated but how far will we go to get it?

As I talk about validation I really need to talk about self esteem

because in my eyes these two things are linked closely together.

When we esteem ourselves highly the less we look to man to

validate us.

One of my mentor’s described self esteem this way, self esteem

is your estimation of your own worth!

How much value do you place on yourself?

Do you esteem yourself highly?

People may have their own opinions about

you but you should value yourself highly. You should be your

biggest fan no matter what.

But what should your estimation be based off? What is your

measure?

The word of God should be your measure!

God knows the truth about you so seek out what He says about

you.

His word has so much amazing truths to declare to you about you….

Be real about your shortcomings but be wise how you approach

them. Tearing yourself down is probably doing more

damage than people’s negative  words to you!

So like I said, be honest with yourself. When you make a mistake

admit it but correct yourself in a way that still

maintains your value. I was really bad at doing this. I used to tear

myself down badly. I thought that was the right thing to do

but I was wrong. No matter how wrong I am God would NEVER

tear me down so why do I think it’s okay??

We all sin so it’s natural to speak negative. We don’t need to put

much effort into speaking and thinking

negatively. It’s hard to NOT speak negatively. It’s hard to NOT

gossip. It’s hard to NOT think negatively.

We have to be very intentional and deliberate about being positive

and encouraging and we need help!

We need affirmation, we need encouragement, we need support but

is that the main drive behind everything we do?

But when He was in Jerusalem during the Passover Feast, many

believed in His name [identified themselves with His party] after

seeing His signs (wonders, miracles) which He was doing.

But Jesus [for His part] did not trust Himself to them, because

He knew all [men];

And He did not need anyone to bear witness concerning man

[needed no evidence from anyone about men], for He Himself

knew what was in human nature. [He could read men’s hearts.]”

John 2:23-25

Jesus didn’t seek validation from man. He was content because

God validated Him!

“As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water.

At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of

God descending like a dove and alighting on Him.

And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love;

with Him I am well pleased.”

Matthew 3:16, 17

What just happened there? Jesus was being validated!

He wasn’t looking for applause or encouragement from man,

He came to accomplish the mission He was given by God!

We need to be careful when it comes to who we look to for

validation.

Man never created you, God did so He is the only one qualified

to tell you who you really are.

Your best friend may know you better than the average person

but that doesn’t mean they know the real you.

It may be argued that your family knows you best but it’s just

not true. They know you better than anyone else but they still

don’t know the real you.

God is the only One who knows you in and out!

You can’t even trust your own assessment of who you really

are because once again, you didn’t create you, God did! So stop

with the “this is the way I am” statements because your

assessment is not 100% accurate.

Think about a house for a minute. Let’s say you are selling it.

It would be crazy asking a friend or random

stranger to tell you what the value of the house is. You have to go

to the real estate agency to get an accurate value.

Stop letting people tell you what your value is.

Today you have an opportunity to make a decision.

Just because someone sees you one way doesn’t mean that’s

who you are. (that’s really good news!!)

That’s the way they see you and not the way God sees you.

Because we are flawed we see in part. No one sees perfectly,

just God, remember that.

You don’t have to confine yourself to the perceptions of others.

You can break out of that.

You can decide to be the person God has created you to be. Let

Him show you who you really are. I believe there is so much to

still discover about ourselves. If we stop at, “this is the way I am” or

believe someone’s assessment of who we are then we limit

ourselves. If God really created us (which He did) surely there is

more right??

Surely there is more to us than what people see? !!!!

And on that note I will stop here.

A father’s faith??

image

“And blessed (happy, to be envied) is she who believed that

there would be a fulfillment of the things that were spoken

to her from the Lord.”

Luke 1:45

Do you believe that EVERYTHING God promised you will

come to pass?

Mary was called blessed because she believed God would

fulfill everything He promised her.

Things didn’t go too well for Zechariah, John’s father. He

didn’t believe the words of an angel who had been sent by God.

He didn’t think God could accomplish what He promised.

“Now behold, you will be and will continue to be silent and

not be able to speak till the day when these things take place,

because you have not believed what I told you;

but my words are of a kind which will be fulfilled in the

appointed and proper time.”

Luke 1:20

I think there was more to Zechariah being silenced. Yes, he

didn’t believe the words of the angel but I think there was

an additional reason.

I think it was to Zechariah’s benefit he was silenced. I believe

he would of talked himself out of faith in God. Because he

didn’t believe, he would have spoken about how impossible

God’s promise seemed.

As we believe in the Lord we need to watch how we speak.

Our words have power and they can do some real damage if

not checked.

What God promises He brings to pass.

“And listen! Your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also

conceived a son, and this is now the sixth month with her

who was called barren.

For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from

God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment. ”

Luke 1:36, 37

Today, I am challenging you to believe what the Lord has

promised you will come to pass. It will be fulfilled.

I am challenging me too…….

As Mary was blessed because she believed God would fulfill

what He promised her so it is with you and me. You are blessed

when you believe!

Zechariah had time to reflect on what he did. Look at what

happened when he was able to speak again,

“And at once his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and

he began to speak, blessing and praising and thanking God.”

Luke 1: 64

Was that how he was supposed to respond the first time he

heard the promise?

What are you speaking in this season of waiting for the

promise to be fulfilled? Are you talking yourself out of faith?

Are you blessing, praising and thanking the Lord??

I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to watch your

words. God will fulfill His promise to you but your negative

words can disqualify you.

Just recently I was the one speaking negatively. But a friend

brought me back to the right place…..faith. Thank God for a

friend like that. My faith was ignited again as I was reminded

of the truth I am sharing with you.

God will fulfill everything He promised you friend.

He won’t abandon you. He won’t leave you stranded.

You are blessed when you believe God will fulfill all He has

promised you…..Amen!

Our responsibility today…..

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

image

“O Timothy, guard and keep the deposit entrusted [to you]!

Turn away from  the irreverant babble and godless chatter

with the vain and empty  and wordly phrases, and the

subtleties and the contradictions in what is falsely called

knowledge and spiritual illumination. “

1 Timothy 6:20

“Guard and keep the deposit entrusted to you”

God had deposited something precious into Timothy.

Timothy was commissioned to guard it and keep it safe!

Are you protecting the things God has deposited in you?

I believe He has deposited amazing things in each and every

of you. But that deposit is being attacked. The enemy wants

you to lose the deposit God has given you.

You have a responsibility friends to protect the things God has

deposited in you.

As part of guarding and keeping the deposit, Timothy had to

turn away from godless chatter. He had to watch the way he

spoke.

Are you speaking yourself out of your destiny? Are you talking

about all the things you can’t accomplish that God has called you

to do? Are you talking about what you don’t have?

Are you watching who you hang out with?

Are you watching the things you are watching and listening to?

The bottom line is this,

Guard and keep the deposit entrusted to you by God with

all vigilance!
