Stop Eating “JUNK” Food!

In the past few weeks God has been teaching me to stop eating what the devil is dishing out.

Because the devil has a lot of crazy stuff he would like you and me to believe. And I was just there eating what ever he was dishing out which caused fear, anxiety, and hopelessness in me. I would cry out to God to help me in the midst of the attack because it was intense but God began to show me that I was not filtering the thoughts I was getting.

Our filter is the Word of God and that’s how we need to be measuring up everything that comes our way.

So He showed me that I need to reject the lies instead of entertaining them. And that’s what we tend to do right? Instead of taking the lies to God immediately we start thinking about what ifs, and project possible outcomes that are totally not according to God’s will for us. We let the fear shut us down.

But if we are going to hold on to the promises God has for us we need to stop doing this. We need to stop eating everything the devil is dishing out.

IT’S ALL LIES…

IT’S ALL LIES…

Resist and reject all of it. It’s not going to be easy I understand but God is with you and He will help you as you cry out to Him. The thoughts will come but they don’t have to pitch their tents in your mind. Cast them out with the authority Jesus has given you.

“We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”

2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV

So as I come to the end of this post I want to encourage you with one more scripture,

“And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

Philippians 4:8 NLT

Change what you think about. Stop thinking about the negative things the devil keeps trying to remind you about but instead think on the things God is doing in your life, the words He has spoken to you, on His beauty, on His grace, on the amazing things He has in store for you, His promises and so much more.

With that I have come to the end of the post.

Bless you friends and have a great weekend!

Let Go Of Negative Labels

Throughout our lives we have been picking up labels from family, friends, teachers, coaches, you name it.

But this is the thing, the majority of the labels we picked up are not accurate and

at times downright destructive. We need to be careful what labels we have adopted

and from where.

Take Moses for example.

God called him to lead His people out of Egypt. So as He called him,

He gave assurances that He would be with him but there was one thing

that was giving Moses second doubts about his ability to carry out what

God had called him to do. And that thing was the label or labels he was holding

on to.

“But Moses said to the Lord, “Oh my Lord, I am not eloquent, either in the past

or since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and of tongue.”

Exodus 3:10

Instead of saying “yes Lord”.

He almost let the labels he had stop him from walking into what God had for him.

And also note, God knew the potential Moses had. He knew the great things He would

do through him but Moses didn’t see any of that because of the labels he held on to.

And that’s the danger of holding on to the wrong labels. They limit what we think

God can do and blind us to the opportunities available to us.

We need to measure up every label we have, to what God says about us. We measure

them up to His word. If words spoken to us are not in line with what God says in His Word

then it needs to go.

And we also need to be careful about what we say to ourselves. That’s what happened to

Moses. He may have told himself and believed he was slow of speech and not eloquent

and in his mind those labels disqualified him from doing what God told him to do.

You probably know yourself better than anyone on this planet but at the end of the day

you need to remember that you did not create you, God created you!

And because He created you He knows every little thing about you. There is nothing He

doesn’t know about you but you on the other hand you don’t have the full picture. You don’t have all

the information. There is stuff missing.

So stop with the “this is the way I am” statements.

Stop with the “I am clumsy, I am forgetful,

I can’t do this, I can’t do that” statements.

You don’t have all the pieces to the puzzle so why label yourself and make “absolute” statements

about yourself?

God is the only one who can do that so go to Him to tell who you are, what you can do and the

amazing opportunities waiting for you.

Ask Him for help as you do this. There is no way you are going to get rid of the negative labels

in your life by yourself. Ask Him to show you what negative words you are holding on to.

And ask Him to replace those words/labels with His truth, with His Word.

And as I close I want to end with a quote I read that I love. It says,

“Let no label stick unless it was put there by God.”

Have a great weekend friends!

Why do you believe what you believe?

Whether we like to admit it or not, our beliefs play a very big role in how our lives turn out.

But as I thought on this a bit more I realized something very important, something that has

changed the way I look at beliefs.

We were not born with beliefs!

That was an ah-ha moment for me. The light switched on!

We were not born with beliefs. We were not born with the idea of not being clever enough, or not rich enough,

not handsome or pretty enough and so on. We picked up those beliefs, we inherited them, we made a choice to

integrate them into our lives, the positive and the negative.

We don’t have to live with outdated beliefs about ourselves, life and the other things we deem as important.

The toxic beliefs we have picked up can be changed by YAH’s grace. You don’t have to live with toxic beliefs

any longer. There is an opportunity for change.

We didn’t know better and accepted and believed certain things but think about Gideon for a bit with me.

He had some toxic beliefs, outdated beliefs about himself.

“But Gideon answered, “Pardon me, Lord. How can I save Israel? My family group is the weakest in

Manasseh. And I am the least important member in my family.”

Judges 6:15

Someone told Gideon he was the least important. He accepted what people said about him and his

family at some point. He wasn’t born with those beliefs.

But thank YAH for His grace because He came and changed the negative beliefs Gideon had by using

him to deliver his people!

We need the Lord’s help friends. There are beliefs we have picked up that we don’t even know we have.

The Lord can shine the light and expose those beliefs.

Watch who you listen to. What are you accepting as truth about yourself?

Whose words are you accepting as truth for you?

These things all matter when it comes to adopting the right beliefs.

Blessings to you…..

A father’s faith??

image

“And blessed (happy, to be envied) is she who believed that

there would be a fulfillment of the things that were spoken

to her from the Lord.”

Luke 1:45

Do you believe that EVERYTHING God promised you will

come to pass?

Mary was called blessed because she believed God would

fulfill everything He promised her.

Things didn’t go too well for Zechariah, John’s father. He

didn’t believe the words of an angel who had been sent by God.

He didn’t think God could accomplish what He promised.

“Now behold, you will be and will continue to be silent and

not be able to speak till the day when these things take place,

because you have not believed what I told you;

but my words are of a kind which will be fulfilled in the

appointed and proper time.”

Luke 1:20

I think there was more to Zechariah being silenced. Yes, he

didn’t believe the words of the angel but I think there was

an additional reason.

I think it was to Zechariah’s benefit he was silenced. I believe

he would of talked himself out of faith in God. Because he

didn’t believe, he would have spoken about how impossible

God’s promise seemed.

As we believe in the Lord we need to watch how we speak.

Our words have power and they can do some real damage if

not checked.

What God promises He brings to pass.

“And listen! Your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also

conceived a son, and this is now the sixth month with her

who was called barren.

For with God nothing is ever impossible and no word from

God shall be without power or impossible of fulfillment. ”

Luke 1:36, 37

Today, I am challenging you to believe what the Lord has

promised you will come to pass. It will be fulfilled.

I am challenging me too…….

As Mary was blessed because she believed God would fulfill

what He promised her so it is with you and me. You are blessed

when you believe!

Zechariah had time to reflect on what he did. Look at what

happened when he was able to speak again,

“And at once his mouth was opened and his tongue loosed, and

he began to speak, blessing and praising and thanking God.”

Luke 1: 64

Was that how he was supposed to respond the first time he

heard the promise?

What are you speaking in this season of waiting for the

promise to be fulfilled? Are you talking yourself out of faith?

Are you blessing, praising and thanking the Lord??

I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to watch your

words. God will fulfill His promise to you but your negative

words can disqualify you.

Just recently I was the one speaking negatively. But a friend

brought me back to the right place…..faith. Thank God for a

friend like that. My faith was ignited again as I was reminded

of the truth I am sharing with you.

God will fulfill everything He promised you friend.

He won’t abandon you. He won’t leave you stranded.

You are blessed when you believe God will fulfill all He has

promised you…..Amen!

The Last Word…..

I believed (trusted in, relied on, and clung to my God), and therefore have I spoken [even when I said], I am greatly afflicted.  Psalms 116:10

This scripture is so deep. The author had a lot of things going on. He was in great affliction according to the word. What really ministers to me about him is, he didn’t hide the fact he was going through tough times. We need to acknowledge when we going through those times. We are helping no one by smiling and hiding what’s really going on. He was not afraid to admit he was going through stuff but he didn’t stop there. His faith was in God. The amplified says he trusted, relied on and clung to God! There was a desperation in him. Even though he was going through hell he knew there was Something bigger than the hell he was facing. This is the important part, as he believed he spoke! His last word was what he believed about God. He didn’t complain or murmur and accuse God, no! He spoke about his deliverance.

Things may be hard for you now. You may see no way out but know God is your deliverance. But your deliverance will not just come. You need to speak it out. it’s OK to admit you going through hell but don’t stop there, let your last word be about your deliverer!!!! What God has said to you should be the last thing that comes out of your mouth!! Cling onto God. No matter how fierce the storm gets, hold on. Don’t let go. Hang on to God with everything you have got and keep on speaking your deliverance.

Don’t let That Word Escape!!!

I had a bad day the other day. I couldn’t put my finger on it at first but then the light came on. There is this girl I like but I have been told not to pursue her.                                                       I would like to think of myself as a fairly confident guy, but when all these words were being spoken I was discouraged. Negative thoughts began to overwhelm me until I made a decision to stop being interested in this girl! Crazy right!!!

It is very hard to just stop being interested in a girl especially if you like her. Now here is the point of my post. God began speaking to me about the words I have been speaking over myself in this peculiar situation. They were negative and they were making things worse. As I was contemplating all this I heard a podcast from Pastor Joel Osteen. He was speaking about the power of our confession. Here are a few things he mentioned:

–          You cannot talk defeat and expect victory.

–          Negative words can keep you from God’s best.

–          The promises of God are delayed at times because of our words.

–          We are prophesying negatively over our future when we speak negative.

You cannot talk defeat and expect victory. That is so true but I was doing that and so many other people do that. To expect victory we need to speak victory. So after that I stopped speaking negatively over my situation. What are you speaking over your life? The other thing I realised was how easy it was to speak negatively when I was down. I thought I was doing the right thing by talking myself down but that is not what God wants. He wants me to have the best and only the best. It is not an admirable trait to have, if you talk down on yourself.

Watch your confession. Watch what comes out of your mouth because you are creating your world with your words!

God bless.

What Does Your Tomorrow Look Like?

What is the difference between you and the next person? What is the difference between someone who drives around in an expensive Range Rover Sport and you? What is the difference between a family that travels to the best resorts in the world every holiday compared to a family that are struggling to make ends meet? What is the difference between a person who stays in a penthouse in a high priced suburb compared to someone who stays in a shack in a poor part of town?
What is the difference between a teenager who gets accepted into the best universities and the teenager who is struggling to get accepted at any university?

Believe it or not but there is an underline similarity in all these cases. I live in a place that overlooks one of the most expensive penthouses in the city. So one day as I was sitting and staring at it I started thinking, why am I here and not there? Why are the people who stay at the penthouse, at the penthouse and not here or anywhere else? Why do they drive the cars they drive which are very expensive and why am I struggling to buy a car?

The reason is simple but hard to come to grips with. My mentor taught it to me. I remember the first time he highlighted it, I was rocked. I tried to think of other reasons which I, did find. But he taught me this was one of the main reasons I was were I was. The reason is, in the way I think compared to the way they think! And that is the underline similarity between all those cases I mentioned in the beginning. And because the way we think is different our expectations are different. Thier expectations in life are higher compared to my expectations. Let me give you an example of how that works.
There is a guy who thinks about travelling all the time. He reads magazines on travel and he watches travel network. He is totally obsessed with it. What do you think his expectation is? Travelling! On the other hand we have another guy who is thinking of failure in his business. He worries and complains that things are not going his way. He losses all hope that it will get better. What is his expectation? Failure.
I hope that illustration has helped you to understand how our thinking can determine our expectations.
And please understand what I am saying. I am not saying bad things happen to people because they think wrong. We live in a broken world and because of that we cannot escape brokeness. What I am trying to show you is that you have a part to play in the story of your life. And the way you think is one of the main things that will determine where you are tomorrow. Just thought to make myself clear on that.

Which boat are you in? What does your “tomorrow” look like? What you think about today will determine your “tomorrow”. And remember that the difference between you and someone who is crazy successful is in the way you both think. Begin to change the way you think.
I will end this post with two scriptures:

For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverance and is honourable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise think on and weigh and take account of these things [fix your minds on them].
Philippians 4:8

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
Proverbs 23:7

How to stop stuttering-What do you see. Part 2

In this second part i am concluding what i spoke about in my previous post. What do you see? I hope you can see the importance of changing the way you see. I hope you have taken a look at yourself and asked yourself some hard questions. This question is for everyone and not just a selected few.

We need to learn to see what we want happen in our lives. But it doesn’t just stop there. There is work that needs to be done. You have a part to play in the story of your life. There has been a lot of false teachings about how you just need to visualise what you want and it will happen. “Just visualise what you want happen and it will happen, they say”.
Please understand that it does not stop there. You have a part to play in your success. Its you that is responsible for your life. As God leads you He wants you to be responsible. He wants you to trust in Him and then act in faith. That negative picture in your mind is not going to change by itself.
You need to play your part by renewing your mind with the Word. Deliberately set high goals for yourself. If you want to be a pilot go for it. If you want to be a lawyer you can do it. If you desire to walk in fluency you can. God is with you. Dare to dream crazy big dreams! Don’t be afraid to dream big.
It’s imperative that your picture is positive. It’s important that your picture is so big that it scares you because,
You gravitate towards the strongest picture in your mind.
It has been proven that as humans we are drawn to the strongest picture in our minds. For example, a man who has been told he is stupid and will never amount to anything will stay in that place until he changes how he sees himself.
What is the strongest picture in your mind? Is stuttering stronger than fluency? If so, that needs to be changed. Is failure stronger than success? Is sickness stronger than health? Is impurity stronger than purity? All these negative mindsets need to be changed. You cannot afford to have them. They will be detrimental to your growth as a person. Ask God to show you the strong negative pictures that you gravitate towards.
Once He does, ask Him to help you change them.

I hope that helped. You are destined for great things. Open your eyes and see all that God has for you because He has so much in store. There are a lot more principles that i need to share with you that i know once you apply will help you tremendously.
Stay blessed.
