Is Christmas still relevant today?

I love Christmas!

But I have a question.

What does Christmas really mean?
(Deep in thought……)
Christmas is about Santa Claus
It’s about giving and spending time with family. It’s about food (lots of it) haha
It’s also about the birth of Christ! For Christians this is the main purpose of Christmas.
It’s that time of the year we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior.
But as I reflect on Christmas a few things come to mind:
The 2014 Isla Vista killings – where a man shot and killed six people and injured thirteen others before committing suicide! I can only imagine what the families are going through!
The disappearance of Malaysian Airlines earlier this year which resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives! Hundreds of families will spend Christmas alone!
The death and loss caused by ISIS. There are people still fleeing for their lives. There are people still losing loved ones. There are lots of people living in fear because of ISIS.
The kidnapping of 200 girls by the Boko Haram.
Women and girls who have been trafficked and haven’t been rescued!
The list goes on and on!
As I thought on this I thought to myself,
Surely Christmas is more than gifts, food, Santa Claus, and family? Those things are important but what does Christmas offer to the person who has lost everything?
Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. (‭Luke‬ ‭2‬:‭10-11‬ NKJV)
We were lost doomed to die but Jesus came and changed that. He reversed our death sentence to one of life! When I think of Christmas, I think of the hope it brings!  A hope that the world desperately needs. A hope WE desperately need!!
Christmas offers hope for everyone! No matter how bad things are, no matter how hopeless they seem, there is hope! Don’t be discouraged, don’t lose heart. You have been given a second chance!
Christmas is a beacon of hope to all that need hope!
Bad things have happened and are still happening but the birth of Jesus Christ is the answer to the pain and the terror that has happened.
When you think of the birth of Jesus Christ, His death and what He accomplished should come to mind! You cannot separate those two powerful, world changing events!
He came to give us life, peace, joy, a reason to live again, hope and a whole lot more!
If you are in pain, if you are alone, if your future looks hopeless know this:
There is hope for you……
You have a second, third, fourth chance!
God cares for you and looks after you.
Christmas represents HOPE for everyone!
Merry Christmas to you all.

The key to breakthrough is……

We need prayer in our lives. Prayer is the key to the breakthrough we are
seeking in our lives. But how do we pray for the breakthrough?
Luke 11 has the answer.
“Here’s what I am saying:

Ask and you’ll get;

Seek and you’ll find;

Knock and the door will open.

Don’t bargain with God. Be direct.

This is not a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in.
Luke 11:9
It is that simple, actually too simple! But this is the thing. I have
had things I have asked for and sought which I still don’t have.
There are some things I have been waiting for weeks, months and years.
Are there things you have been praying for that you are still waiting for from God?
Has He forgotten or simply just ignored those requests? No!
The answer is in the story He tells before hand…..
“Then He said, “Imagine what would happen if you went to a friend in the middle of
the night and said, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread. An old friend travelling through
just showed up, and I don’t have a thing on hand.
The friend answers from his bed, don’t bother me. The door’s locked; my
children are all down for the night; I can’t get up to give you anything.
But let me tell you, even if he won’t get up because he’s a friend, if you stand your
ground, knocking and waking all the neighbours, he’ll finally get up and get you whatever you need.
Luke 11:5-8
There is a principle in this story that I totally believe in and apply. A principle that keeps me asking and stops me from giving up. The principle is this, Friendship is not enough at
times when it comes to prayer,
But let me tell you, even if he won’t get up because he’s a friend….
We have a relationship with God but that doesn’t mean He will hear us all the time. Sometimes we will need to be persistent! The friend gave the bread because of the persistence of the other friend!
There is a saying I have, Persistence will get you what friendship can’t. I even wrote a post about it some time ago. I can’t get into it right now but all you need to know is,
to get breakthrough you need to persist. Friendship will help at times but at other times we need something more.
The point is this. Be specific when you come to God in prayer. Be very clear. Ask, seek
and you will find. Then persist. If something doesn’t come through keep knocking,
keep seeking, and you will find! God is not trying to hide things from you. He has so
much in store for you. God bless.

You will not be disappointed…..

Thought of the day.

We really need the word in our lives. It is the main authority or should be the main authority in our lives. With that in mind I would like to share a scripture with you. It’s an amazing scripture and it’s in Psalm 22:4, 5 and it says;

Our fathers trusted in You; they trusted (leaned on, relied on You, and were confident) and You delivered them.                                                                They cried to You and were delivered; they trusted in, leaned on, and confidently relied on You, and were not ashamed or confounded or disappointed.   (Amplified)

I love this scripture because it tells us about who God is. He is our God and He can be trusted-that is a fact! As God came through for our fathers, He will do the same for us. As He delivered them so it is with us. As they trusted in God they were not put to shame or confounded or disappointed so it is with us. Yes they must have had their fair share of trials and challenges and failures but overall they were never put to shame, confounded or disappointed!

The conclusion is this, call on God because He will deliver you!

Trust in God because you will not be ashamed or confounded or disappointed!!!

As our fathers put their faith on the line God responded to their faith, so it will be with us. No matter what you trusting God for please know He will not let you down. He will respond to your faith. As He was faithful to our fathers He will be faithful to us…Amen!!!
