How to live out your purpose!

God has a purpose for our lives. That’s the truth but what

does that really mean? Yes, God has a plan for you, for me but

how does that apply to our lives? How does that apply to us now?

God showed me something the other day about purpose.

God has a plan for me but what I do daily has an impact on my

purpose.

Am I being faithful with what is in my hand at this moment in

time?

I realized God was looking at what I was doing now!

For example,

This blog is something God has

put in my hands (a talent) and He is looking on to see

if I will make a profit or if I will hide it in the ground!!!!

Do you get it?

What about my purity?

God has given me this precious gift and is also looking to see

what I do with it. Do I cherish it or do I disgard it? It matters!

God wants me to be faithful with the finances He has given me.

Do I save, do I invest? Do I plan how I use the money I have?

Do I give to the poor? Do I tithe?

In the big picture, the way I use my finances matter!

Over the years He has shown me how important it is to

exercise and eat healthy. Am I looking after my temple

by exercising regularly and eating right?

I could go on and on but I believe you get the idea. Walking

in purpose means doing the small things He has put in our

hands. He has given you talents and is looking to see if you

will be faithful with them.

Remember the story in the book of Matthew25:14-30

To one He gave five talents, to another He gave two talents and

to the last servant He gave one talent.

They were given a different amount of talents but what mattered

is if they went and did something with the talents they were given!

You may be complaining about the one talent you have been given

but are you being faithful with that one talent??

I was so convicted when I realized God wanted me to be faithful

with the one talent He had given me! Sitting on it or burying it

because it was a talent was not going to cut it.

Walking in your purpose means being faithful with the one, two

five talents you have been given.

I would like to leave you with this thought friends.

God has given some of you five talents, some two talents and

some just one talent but when you are faithful with what He

has given you, He will give you more! If you are that person who

has one talent, be faithful with it. He knows what He is doing!

He is so good!

The girl who beat me……!

This is not going to be an easy post to write but write it I must.

I love all things healthy. I love exercise,  eating healthy and so on

but in the last couple of months I had lost the vision. I stopped

going to gym and I stopped eating healthy. I just stopped. I can give

all the excuses in the world but that is all they will ever be,

excuses!

But that all changed last week when I started exercising again.

It was good to be back. On the day I started I saw a lady who

I exercise with.

Let me rephrase that, the lady I used to see every time I went

out to train. I would get up every morning

to exercise and I would see this lady go for a run. I have never

spoken to her in all of our exercising and we never crossed

paths. Anyway, on my first day of getting back, I saw her,

again. Like clock work she was about to go on her run……

At that moment a thought came to me;

And that is what makes her better than you.

That is why she will be fitter than you.

That is why she will win and achieve her goals.

Because she has stayed consistent!!

And I was like, “ouch”!!

She has been disciplined to keep up her routine on a daily

basis. When I do exercise I hit it hard, very hard but that

doesn’t matter because I am not consistent!

I haven’t stuck to it, haven’t done the things that need to be done

on a daily basis!

Isn’t that how life is though? The disciplined people, the people

who don’t give up, who push through no matter how painful

it is, those are the people who win.

A disciplined person will win over the undisciplined person

any day. The focused and diligent person can have anything

they want.

I was so challenged by her dedication and persistence!

I want to be disciplined. I can have all the

passion in the world but it will come to nothing if I am not

motivated, disciplined. I won’t get it right all the time but

I need to keep on pushing!

It was hard writing this. It’s never easy writing about

your own weaknesses but I know I have a chance. I can make a

decision to learn from her or choose to ignore what I saw.

I can change and AM changing! The person I am today can be

and will be different tomorrow. As long as the Holy Spirit is in me

I have a chance and so it is with you. There may be things you

don’t like about yourself but there is hope. Ask for God’s help.

The process is not easy but it’s worth it……

And that is how I was beaten by a girl!  🙂

What you need to know about prayer…….

I was reading my word when a few scriptures jumped out at me. The scriptures were talking about prayer and I was in desperate need of the reminder, I just didn’t know it yet! Prayer is so powerful. We are nothing without prayer. Let us look at the first scripture:

1. In prayer there is a connection between what God does and what you do. You can’t get forgiveness from God for instance without also forgiving others. If you refuse to do your part, you cut yourself off from God’s part. Matthew 6:14-15

This scripture just confirms what I have been taught about prayer. We have a part to play in prayer!

For example, if you are praying to God to live a long and healthy life, are you doing the things that will help you live healthier like exercising, eating healthy and so on. Is it not crazy to pray to live a long healthy life when you are living a life that totally jeopardizes your health? You smoke, drink, eat junk every single day, don’t exercise but at the same time you pray for a long healthy life! Are you getting the picture? This is just is one example though. When we pray we should ask God to show us what our part in whatever we are praying about is. God doesn’t want you to do everything. He wants you to do your part as a declaration of where your faith is at!

Your friend may be sick and your part could be to send them a get well card or encourage them. So pray and go do what God shows you to do.

I believed God wanted me to go on music tours but I had no money so I prayed but my part in all of this was to go and ask people for help. I had to step out and go ask for help. What is your part in what you are praying?

2. Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need, this isn’t a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in. Matthew 7:7-11

Does this need any further explanation? Be direct with God. I struggled with this because I thought something’s were just too much for God. “What if it’s not what God wants” is what I asked myself. This was a very challenging word indeed! Because of circumstances and sin and other things I am not direct in prayer but God wants us to be direct! We don’t need to beat around the bush. We need to be bold as we come to Him.

And those are the two things I wanted to share about prayer……

What are you hungry for???

Appetite is an incentive to work; hunger makes you work all the harder.  Psalm 16:26

I have always thought this scripture was talking about the importance of a job. You know, if you don’t work you don’t eat, or something to that effect but there is a much deeper meaning to that scripture. I was so challenged by the revelation I was given in my quiet time. This scripture is talking about something more than jobs, it is talking about life. It is talking about purpose, destiny, the future. Let me put this verse in perspective. This year I decided there needs to be more change in my life but to do that I cannot keep on doing the same thing. That is insanity. If I want a change I need to change what I am doing. With all the frustration I have been having a hunger has been developed. And this is the hunger I think this passage of scripture is talking about. A hunger to be more, and a hunger to do more…..A hunger that is no more satisfied with the status quo but is willing to go against the grain….A hunger that says, it is time to get up and stop living life on the couch….A hunger that is not happy with just getting by but is pushing to do great things, significant things…..a hunger that is pushing forward in the face of insurmountable challenges…….a hunger that is tired of fear and instead stands up against it, that is the type of hunger I think this scripture is talking about!

Appetite is an incentive to work” says the word. Without appetite there is no incentive to work. If you are not hungry for change, if you are content with everything as they are then there is no incentive. A mechanic fixes a car only when there is a problem, a surgeon operates only when a person is sick. What I mean by that is there is no need to fix a car if it is running smoothly and there is no need to operate if a person is healthy, so it is with us. There is no need for change if we see everything as OK. There is no hunger if you are full!!!! Only when you begin to want more, and be more, and do more does the incentive come. “Hunger makes you work all the harder“…..When you are hungry you will do whatever you can to accomplish your goal. The key to working harder is being hungry. Don’t settle for OK or good. This is why you shouldn’t settle for OK or good because there is no growth without hunger. Hunger is important to get to the next level of your life.

What are you hungry for in your life?

This is the question I asked myself. Am I hungry for change, am I hungry for God, am I hungry to succeed in all I do? Am I hungry??? I don’t want to live a “full” life. I want a change. A year from now I don’t want to be the same person I am now, I don’t want to live the kind of life I am living now, I don’t want to be praying the same prayers I am praying now, I don’t want to see the same way I see now, I don’t want to be at the same level of fitness I am now . I don’t want my life to be at the same place……!!!!

Before you can answer the question, “what are you hungry for in life” you need to ask yourself if you are hungry at all??? Without hunger nothing happens. Nothing great happened without hunger, passion!!!Get hungry. Whet your appetite by thinking more outrageously, praying bigger prayers, seeing a bigger picture. Pray big, speak big and trust God. Change happens when you make a stand and say “ENOUGH”!!

As I end I will leave you with this question, what are you hungry for?????                         🙂
