Who can rescue us in times of trouble?

On this earth there will be trials, challenges and struggles. That’s a given.

We have an enemy who wants to take us out, who doesn’t want us to complete what

God put us here to do.

And even today, you may be going through some extremely difficult things with no answer in sight,

the bills keep coming but the account balance is on zero, trouble after trouble comes your way….

I want to encourage you that we serve a God who rescues and His name is Jesus.

There is a story I would like to talk about that enforces this important truth.

“But if you refuse, you will be thrown immediately into the burning furnace. And then

what god will be able to rescue you from my power?”

Daniel 3:15

Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah were in serious trouble. The king made an image and

commanded everyone to bow down to it but the three Hebrew young men refused. The king

gave them another opportunity and in his eyes he thought he had won. He didn’t know the

God they served. He didn’t know their God was a God who rescues;

“And then what god will be able to rescue you from my power?”

We are not alone in this. The Lord is with us as we face all the trials and tribulations that come

our way. When the three Hebrew young men were thrown into the fire the king jumped from

his seat because he saw four men and fourth Man looked like the son of God!

Jesus was with them in the fire. He never abandoned them and He won’t abandon us.

And even as I write this I am reminded of so many other stories of how God saves His people.

When Peter was in prison and Herod had planned to execute him the next day, surrounded

by soldiers, the angel of the Lord led him out of the prison to freedom.

The Israelites were being chased by the Egyptians who had a change of heart after letting them go.

But as they fled they were stopped by the Red Sea. On one side were the Egyptians and on the

other side, the Red Sea. It seemed like there was no where to go but God Almighty made a

way for them and parted the Red Sea! He rescued them in an amazing way.

Then there was Daniel. Some jealous people wanted to take him out so they got him thrown into the

lions den. It seemed a sure thing that his life was over but God rescued him in the lion’s den.

And this is the God we serve. He is the God who rescues.

Listen to what the king said after the Hebrew young men came out of the furnace,

“There is no other god who can rescue like this.”

Daniel 3:29

And let’s read what King Darius declared after Daniel was rescued from the lions,

“He rescues and He saves: He performs signs and wonders in the heavens and on earth.

He has rescued Daniel from the power of the lions.”

Daniel 6:27

So as I close, remember the God who rescues. Call on Him and know He will act because

“There is no other god who can rescue like this.”

How important are our prayers to God?

I was not intending to do a sequel to last week’s post but here we are.

I got another revelation this week about prayer during my quiet time that I would like to share.

It really encouraged me and changed the way I see my prayers even more.

“And when He had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down

before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense,

which are the prayers of God’s people.”

Revelation 5:8

“Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers

of God’s people.”

So in this passage of scripture we learn two amazing things.

Firstly, our prayers are not in some random place, or filed away in a place to be forgotten.

They are not thrown away, discarded or lost.

On the contrary, they are been treated with care and are obviously precious in God’s eyes

because they are in golden bowls!

And secondly, our prayers are in the very throne room of God (Revelation 5:8)

Our prayers are very important to God. Don’t let the enemy lie to you that your prayers don’t

mean much to God. The word shows us the truth about how important our prayers are.

So keep praying and know that as your pray your prayers are in golden bowls in the very throne room

of God!

“The Lord detests the sacrifice of the wicked but He delights in the prayers of the upright.”

Proverbs 15:8

Pray today, tomorrow, all the time!

I think we can all agree that this year has been one of a kind.

As I look back at the intense moments (and there were lots of those),

the times when I didn’t know how I would get through the week and season,

the powerlessness I felt, and so many other negative things, I am blown away

by the faithfulness of the Lord.

As I page through my diary it is littered with ticks.

They represent answered prayers.

As a situation came up I would bring it to Him and then write it down.

When He answered my prayer I would mark it.

Ninety percent of the prayers I wrote down He answered.

The remaining ten percent are long term prayers that I am still waiting on Him for.

So at the end of the day, all the prayers I made to Him when I was in trouble and

needed help urgently, He answered!

And that encourages me to keep praying because He does answer prayer.

He hears us when we call and He answers.

You may be in a tough spot at the moment but I want to remind you of the power of prayer.

It is a weapon we have been given. The word says He delights in our prayers so keep praying.

Don’t stop ever. I have to admit there are times I doubt if God has heard my prayers,

times I think God has deliberately chosen to ignore me but in His mercy and grace

He shows me the truth. He always hears us. He cares about everything we are going through

and that is why we can be confident when we pray.

As I close I want to share a video I watched that encouraged me to keep praying because the

God we serve is a God who answers prayer.

Breakthrough!

THOUGHT OF THE DAY

“So [Israel] came up to Baal-perazim, and David smote [the Philistines] there. Then David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like the bursting forth of waters. Therefore they called the name of that place Baal-perazim [Lord of breaking through].”

‭‭1 Chronicles‬ ‭14:11‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Where do you need breakthrough today?

At Baal-perazim, David experienced the Lord’s breakthrough. The Lord delivered him and his army from the Philistines.

We don’t need to be afraid as we face insurmountable challenges. When it all becomes too much we can call on the Lord because He is the Lord who breaks through for us.

God will give us victory as we rely on Him!
