All I see is God’s faithfulness.

“Great are the works of the Lord;

they are pondered by all who delight in them.”

Psalm 111:2

In a year when it seemed like nothing could happen God did the impossible and brought

to reality a dream and desire I had been holding on to for seven years.

He is faithful.

Quiet your mind.

That’s the word that came to me this week. I had received some news which got me

in a state of stress and suddenly started playing out scenarios in my mind. My thoughts

started going at a hundred kilometers an hour and as they began to pick up more and

more the word came to me,

“quiet your mind”

“Shut off the anxious thoughts, and fearful thoughts.”

The way I did that was by praying and talking to God about the news I received.

I gave Him those fearful and anxious thoughts and once I surrendered them to Him I had peace.

The problem didn’t immediately get fixed but the frame of mind changed. My faith and confidence

that God had my back was restored.

What are you stressing over today? What are you frantic about and what is stealing your

peace and faith in God?

Quiet your mind and I don’t mean in a “Zen” kind of way. Quiet those fearful, anxious and terrifying

thoughts by going to the Lord in prayer. Stop what you are doing and have a talk with Him about

what’s bothering you, about what’s freaking you out. He wants to help you and solve your problems.

He has got your back and He has your situation handled!

On one last note, I had an interview on my friend’s channel a couple of weeks ago to launch my very

first book and if you missed the interview and would like to watch it, I have left the link down below.

And if you would like to purchase a copy of the book, click here.

With that have a great weekend friends.

The truth about failure

How do we respond to failure?

What kind of mindset do we adopt after we fail?

How we respond and the kind of mindset we should have when failure comes is so important

if we are going to grow and learn.

There is a train of thought out there that goes along the lines of, failing makes you a failure.

But is that true? Do our failures make us failures?

No it is not true. As long as we live on this earth we will have to deal with failure,

we will make mistakes, but those things do not need to dictate who we are as people or

what we are going to accomplish.

One of the most important questions we need to ask is, how does Jesus see us even though we

fail and make mistakes?

For the answer to that question we are going to look at Peter.

As you know he was a disciple of the Lord and loved him much. But one day before Jesus was

to be crucified, Peter was told he would deny the Lord.

Peter obviously denied it and declared his devotion and that he was ready to die with the Lord.

But as we all know Peter denied the Lord. He messed up big time. He failed Jesus and it seemed

like all was lost. How can anyone bounce back from that?

Imagine the headline in the newspapers the next day,

PETER DENIES JESUS!!

But let’s focus our attention on an interesting passage of scripture,

“Simon, Simon, satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you,

Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

Luke 22:31

Jesus knew Peter would deny Him!

But instead of abandoning him or washing His hands of him, Jesus prayed for him and encouraged him.

Peter’s failure did not change the way Jesus saw him. It did not change the Lord’s plans for his life.

And this is important for us to understand. Even when you fail and make mistakes the Lord is with you.

He hasn’t abandoned or disowned you. Failure doesn’t mean the end of you.

It wasn’t the end of Peter.

It seemed like Peter’s story was over when he failed but we all know how powerfully he was used

in the creation of the early church. He was instrumental in the building of it.

And that’s how good the Lord is. Don’t allow your failures and mistakes to stop you in your tracks.

We are to grow and learn from our failures but never to stop and die.

Jesus has amazing things in store for you in the midst of failures. So because you are a son and daughter

of God you are not a failure but a victor and that’s the best news!

Giants and Walls.

“But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!””

‭‭Numbers‬ ‭13:30-31‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Because of fear the ten spies thought the promise land was off-limits to them. They saw the giants and walls and thought the game was over. But the Lord’s word and promises had not changed. The promise land was still theirs to take.

But that got me thinking about my own life. What had I written off because of fear or doubt?

What dreams and desires that I had and have did I think were off-limits?

Especially with all that has happened this year. Everything was locked down and it seemed like nothing could be done.

But the truth is the Lord wants you to accomplish everything He has created you to do. No matter how impossible and out there it seems the Lord wants you to trust Him.

Keep trusting the Lord and take that step of faith and see Him do the impossible in your life.

A reasonable excuse

“And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are

oppressing them. So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out

of Egypt.” But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites

out of Egypt?””

‭‭Exodus‬ ‭3:9-11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

God had a purpose for Moses and when He told him to go to Pharoah, instead of saying “yes Lord”,

He came up with excuses.

God kept reassuring him He would be with him but Moses kept giving excuses.

As I reflect on my journey of writing my first book I can identify with this story because that’s what I did, a lot! Instead of taking a step of faith I hid behind excuses.

At the core of the issue I was fearful. Fearful of the unknown, fearful of how people would respond, fearful of not completing the task at hand…

But He was patient with me and even though I had excuses He brought me to a place of action.

That’s what happened with Moses eventually. He did what the Lord told him to do and led the Israelites out of Egypt!

We need to take a long hard look at the excuses we give. The Lord wants to use you but the excuses need to be put aside.

I understand there are legitimate reasons for not doing things but that’s not what I am talking about here.

I am talking about the excuses we give as a form of hiding or as a way of getting out of doing what God has called us to do. Those are the excuses we need to put aside.

Stop making excuses because of fear. Now is the time to move ahead in faith.

The courageous step.

In this season the Lord wants us to take a step of faith. He wants to show Himself strong on our behalf and He wants us to know He is with us.

I have been learning this lesson this year and one thing was made very clear to me,

The Lord is not sitting on a couch somewhere, waiting for things to get better, no! He is looking for people who will trust Him to do the impossible.

Joshua was a man who had a huge calling on his life. He was Moses’ predecessor and you can only imagine the emotions and feelings he was dealing with.

But in spite of all he was feeling the Lord spoke to him,

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.””

‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

As he was about to take a step of faith into the unknown the Lord told him to not be afraid but to be strong and very courageous.

Taking a step of faith takes strength and courage. Ask the Lord for His strength because you can’t do it in your own strength. That’s something I know He was calling me to do as I wrote my book. Even though it was difficult and even though there were times I wanted to quit, He was by my side helping me.

As I come to the end of this post I have a question for you.

What are some of the things God wants you to take a step of faith in?

Do not be afraid but be very strong and courageous.

On another note,

I want to let you know my book is being released on the 19th of September so if you would like to pre-order your copy follow the link which I will put at the end of the post.

I despised being a man…..!

I have been in Kenya for almost a week. I went on a music tour with my church which was amazing. I got back last night. So I will share some of my experiences and things God showed me while in Kenya. But this post is not about how my trip went but it’s about the things I learned concerning being a man. Here is what I learned……

– Every time we go on tour the men HAVE to carry the ladies suitcases. We have to offload their bags and carry them to their rooms. I thought our leaders were being unreasonable at first. They had no idea how heavy those suitcases were. The women never packed light and in my mind I thought they should have to suffer for the way they packed their suitcases. “Let me carry their own suitcases so they learn to pack lighter” was my other thought!  mean right?!!!    hahaha
– As men there is always an expectation to lead. In prayer men should lead, in devotionals we need to be the first ones to take the responsibility to share. This was a hard lesson because there were times I didn’t feel like leading. I didn’t want to be the one who carried such a weight…..
– As men we were told to protect the women. Our job was to protect the women on tour. Protect them by not singling them out. Treat them all the same. There should be no favoritism. Treat them like sisters is what we were told. Don’t play with their feelings by leading them on.
I despised all these things and more but this time around as I was loading all the ladies luggage onto our shuttle with a few other men I realized something. I am glad for all those lessons I was taught by my leaders. They taught us how to lead the women in our lives in love, they taught us how to be real men. They showed us the value of being a man. I am glad I was made the way I was, a man! We have a a mandate from God. We were made the head for a reason. I don’t mind carrying the ladies luggage now!! I welcome it…haha. But this is not only about carrying luggage…..it’s about embracing the things that make me a man. God created us men to be strong, to lead, to be the head.
God has a special calling on the men! If there was a time when men were desperately needed to take their place it is now! The world needs men of God. Men who trust in God. Men who know who they are in Christ. Men who take care of their families, love their wives, guide their children in the way of The Lord. May we be the men God has called us to be!
