I can’t believe a month has already passed us by!
I had decided to take a break in January and I am glad I did that.
But I am really pumped to be back.
So I know this is late but Happy New Year to you all!
I wanted to focus on Jeremiah 29:11 today. It’s a very popular passage of scripture and it’s one of my favorites for sure!
But I want to look at in context because I think it’s even more powerful when you look at the full picture.
“These are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the surviving elders of the exiles, and to
the priests, the prophets, and all the people, whom Nebuchadnezzar had taken into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon.”
God’s people were forcefully taken away from their home. It had been destroyed and burned by the Babylonians.
So there they were in a foreign land with no hope for the future. They were discouraged, hopeless and lost in Babylon.
But in the midst of those grim circumstances God had a word for His people,
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
In that hopeless situation, God’s plan for His people was very much alive. Even though it was hard to see at the moment, God
would free them from their captives. He had an amazing plan for them!
You may be in a place today and you are hopeless and see no future for yourself but I want to encourage you to keep hoping.
Hold on to your faith in God because He has a plan for your life, an amazing life. In spite of the grim circumstances, God’s plan
for your life is very much alive. Don’t lose hope.
Bless you friends
Happy New Year, Rolain!
