What’s the big idea?

During this Covid-19 period the amount of books I read has increased drastically. I love reading so in this season I have had a  chance to read, read and read. Anyway, this year I was introduced to Myles Munroe. Before 2020 I had never read any of his books but am I glad I found him. In the book I am currently reading there is a chapter he talked about ideas. The way he explained what ideas are, made me realize some very important and critical things that I would like to share with you. Here are a few points he made about them:

  • Ideas are more powerful than death and ideas produce everything.
  • Everything began as an idea and is the result of the conception of an idea.
  • The most difficult thing to fight against is an idea.
  • Ideas can be transferred and live on for generations.

There are two more points that are the reason for me writing this post,

  • The only way to defeat a bad idea is with a better idea.
  • Ideas are destroyed by ideas.

(This reminds me of one of my favorite movies, Inception! 🙂)

We all have an idea of who we are, about life, about what we are going to do, where we going to live and so on but I realized I was still living with some outdated ideas about myself and what I can do. The source of those ideas predated my days as a Christian.

But I was so encouraged to read that those ideas can be replaced by better ones. The only way to destroy a bad idea that I have been living with for years is by replacing it with a better idea and when I say better I mean with God’s word.

That was so liberating. There is hope. We all have a chance to change. We don’t have to accept the negative ideas we were given about ourselves.

We need to be habitually giving ourselves better ideas. It can’t be a once off thing but a lifestyle. And as sons and daughters of the King we have a true source of ideas in abundance.

I want to live out the ideas the Lord has for me because they are amazing, graceful, and they are truth. He created me so He knows better than I know myself.

What ideas are you living with today that are limiting you, that are keeping you from living to the full potential God designed you to live?

Prayer

Lord, reveal areas where bad ideas are reigning supreme and help us to replace them with better ideas, with Your ideas.

Break the power of fearful and limiting ideas in our lives.

Give us Your amazing ideas from this day on.

Amen!

Blessings to you friends

Then God showed up…

The children of Israel were trapped. The Egyptians were behind them and in front of them was the Red Sea but the Lord showed up. He split the sea and drowned the enemy.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego were in serious trouble. The king was going to throw them into the burning furnace because they refused to bow down to his image. And he did throw them into the fire but once again the Lord showed up. He saved them.

The Lord loves to come through for us – fact.

No matter what comes our way, the Lord will always be there to save us. What are you facing today? Call on Him for help. He will rescue you from the most intense of fires. Put all your hope in Him and see His mercy, power and faithfulness on display in your situation. He is good!

Bless you friends

Fixing my priorities.

On the road of purpose getting your priorities in the right order is critical.

I struggle with this at times. When I am supposed to be writing or doing something that feeds into my purpose I get distracted with something totally random.

But if I am going to accomplish the things God has for me I need to get my priorities in the right order.

How are your priorities looking?

When Nehemiah was busy at the wall his enemies tried to distract him. But Nehemiah knew what God called him to do and because he knew, his priorities were in the right order.

“So Sanballat and Geshem sent a message asking me to meet them at one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But I realized they were plotting to harm me, so I replied by sending this message to them: “I am engaged in a great work, so I can’t come. Why should I stop working to come and meet with you?” Four times they sent the same message, and each time I gave the same reply.”

‭‭Nehemiah‬ ‭6:2-4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Nehemiah was not going to get distracted. His focus was laser sharp.

It’s time to realign our priorities. It easier to arrange them when we know what our purpose is.

If you don’t know what God’s purpose for your life is, I pray God will reveal it to you. He wants you to know the amazing plans and purposes He has for you. He is not hiding it from you. So get your priorities right today.

Bless you friends

There is hope in our darkest seasons

“When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up all hope of being saved.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭27:20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The captain refused to listen to Paul and because of that they were caught in a hurricane. There was nothing anyone could do. And after many days the word says ALL hope of being saved was gone.

You may be in a hopeless situation right now but there is good news. You might be out of options and all your efforts have come to nothing but there is good news for you.

When hope was lost the Lord stepped in. When death was sure the Lord sent an angel with hope. Even though there was no physical evidence of a turn around the Lord told Paul all the men on the boat would be saved!

“Last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.’”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭27:23-24‬ ‭NIV‬‬

In our darkest seasons there will always be hope because God loves us and cares for us. Don’t abandon hope. The Lord will step in and save you. He will turn your darkest season around for good. Keep looking to and trusting Him.

Bless you friends

Tear down the old perceptions given to you.

God had amazing plans for David’s life but unfortunately no one saw the amazing potential God put in him.

When Samuel visited his family to choose a king, his father literally forgot about him! Samuel had to press Jesse if there was anyone else! Crazy right.

His brothers didn’t see a thing.

(1 Samuel‬ ‭17:28‬)

And then David was brought before king Saul because of the way he spoke about Goliath. He was fearless and courageous. But even then, king Saul didn’t see what God saw.

“And Saul said to David, You are not able to go to fight against this Philistine. You are only an adolescent, and he has been a warrior from his youth.”

‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭17:33‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

“You are not able to go to fight”

He didn’t even know David and what he had gone through till that point. But he told David, he couldn’t fight the giant!

Man saw nothing when they looked at David but God saw a mighty warrior and that meant everything.

I touched on a bit of this in my previous post, we need to be careful who we allow to define who we are. God is the true source and He knows who we really are.

You need to break free of words, ideas and other people’s perceptions of who you are that have kept you living below your true potential. It’s clear from David’s story that no man really knows your true potential. They may have an idea but they don’t know the full potential God has put in you.

But breaking free can only be done by the power of God. You need the Holy Spirit to come in and reveal the true picture of who God created you to be and He will if you ask Him.

As you take the step be assured the Lord is with you. He desperately wants you to know who you really are. He wants you to know and experience the amazing things He planned for you more than you will ever know.

So make the decision today!

Bless you friends!
