Are you a man or woman of conviction? Does sticking to what you believe mean anything to you?
In the world we live in we really need to be people that live by our convictions. People who have stuck to their convictions have literally changed the world.
Martin Luther Jr was a man who lived by conviction. He refused to budge for anyone. He knew what his mission was and followed it with everything within him.
William Wallace was a man who lived by conviction. Jesus Christ is the perfect example of a Man who lived by conviction. He stuck to His convictions. He never wavered or falted. People confronted Him and opposed Him but that didn’t move Him. He stayed strong to the end.
There is a cost to being a person of conviction. A lot of the great men and women we have been taught about paid for it with their lives. The price was heavy and it still is. Being a person of conviction is not for the faint hearted. It needs you to be courageous.
As i come to the end i want to finish in the Word.
I want to share a scripture that speaks about conviction. It really hit me when i got a revelation of what it meant.
Your personal convictions [on such matters]-excercise [them] as in God’s presence, keeping them to yourself [striving only to know the truth and obey His will]. Blessed (happy, to be envied) is he who has no reason to judge himself for what he approves [who does not convict himself by what he chooses to do].
But the man who has doubts (misgivings, an uneasy conscience) about eating, and then eats [perhaps because of you], stands condemned [before God], because he is not true to his covictions and he does not act from faith. For whatever does not originate and proceed from faith is sin [whatever is done without a conviction of its approval by God is sinful]. Romans 14:22,23
Wow right! ! That is such a powerful piece of scripture. The author in previous verses has been speaking about how you supposed to carry yourself around young christians. One considers one day holier than the other. We should not judge other people because of that. He also speaks about how some people eat all types of food and the other is careful about what he eats. We should not be a stumbling block to the young christian because of what we eat. So that and a bit more is said. At least you know the context of the scriptures i am talking from. So in that whole passage there is a principle i want you to see. I don’t think it only applies to food but every other area of your life. Let’s look at the first important piece of that scripture. And please note, this is all connected to being a person of conviction.
“Blessed (happy, to be envied) is he who has no reason to judge himself for what he approves [who does not convict himself by what he chooses to do]. Romans 14:22
Are you confident with who you are? Do you need to always seek someone who can put their seal of approval on everything you endeavor to do?
Part of being a man or woman of conviction is being confident with who you are no matter what other people say or think.
to be continued. . . . .
Before i go think about what it means to be a man or woman of conviction.
– What changes need to be made in your life to be that person who stands by their convictions?
– The great men and woman who impacted the world sacrificed so much because of their convictions, even with their lives. Are you ready to pay the price that is needed to be a person of conviction?
